A HOLIDAY MUSIC GALA celebrates the Christmas season as singers from the University of Central Arkansas perform traditional carols, festive holiday songs and unique arrangements of spiritual hymns. In the first act, the UCA Chamber Singers — a very select ensemble consisting of two, 25-voice groups — present chamber pieces from the 14th, 15th and 20th centuries. Next, the internationally acclaimed 90-voice UCA Concert Choir performs "O Come All Ye Faithful," "Away in a Manger" and "Joy to the World." During the second act, The Arkansas Chamber Singers — known for performing works ranging from motets to madrigals to Broadway hits — entertain the audience with renditions of "The Carol of the Bells," "Bogorditse Devo" and "A Musicological Journey Through the Twelve Days of Christmas." The Vesper Choir takes the stage for the program's final act, which includes selections from Handel's Messiah.And for the spirited finale, all three groups unite to sing "Children Go Where I Send Thee."
