Boston, Mass. (Wednesday, March 30, 2005) APT Worldwide, the international sales division of U.S. public television distributor American Public Television, has secured international representation rights for the one-hour documentary, Where Words Prevail. The engaging film takes a behind-the-scenes look at the acting profession, capturing the innovative and highly unorthodox teaching style of Cicely Berry, the renowned voice director of the Royal Shakespeare Company.

Actors who have worked with Berry describe her as both "the most subversive person I've ever met" and someone who "inspires people to think of the possibilities of what language can do." The author of two seminal works on the use of voice — The Actor and the Text and Voice and the Actor — Berry has spent more than 35 years in service to the written word. Where Words Prevail follows her as she conducts workshops with acting students in Russia, the United States, Korea, Brazil and the United Kingdom.

"Berry's methods are very physical, and at first glance they can seem somewhat bizarre," says Judy Barlow, APT's vice president of business development. "But the film does a fantastic job of demonstrating just how deeply her techniques transform the performances of her acting students, no matter what their native language may be."

Featuring commentary from top producers, directors and actors — including Emily Watson and Oscar-winner Helen Hunt — Where Words Prevail showcases the expertise and passion of an artist who truly believes in the power of words. APT Worldwide will be offering the film for the first time to broadcasters at MIP 2005.
