Documentary filmmaker Ruby Yang wins Academy Award

Ruby Yang, co-producer of the APT Worldwide documentaries Citizen Hong Kong and China 21, was awarded — along with Thomas Lennon — an Academy Award for the short subject documentary, The Blood of Yingzhou District, at the 79th annual Academy Award Ceremony in Hollywood, California.

In Citizen Hong Kong (1x60), Yang's travels back to Hong Kong to see how the transfer of sovereignty from the United Kingdom to China has affected her homeland. In China 21 (1x60), she explores the impact of China's changing social and economic landscapes on four diverse families.
