Jackie Onassis

Biography of First Lady Rates First

APT one-offs, including GORILLAS: ON THE TRAIL OF KING KONG and JACKIE ONASSIS: AN INTIMATE PORTRAIT, rose to the top of the ratings list this month. Gorillas faired well during the weekend daytime daypart, averaging a 2.2 over five primary station airings. WNED found primetime success with Jackie Onassis on Nov. 16, choosing to schedule it on a Thursday at 8:00 p.m. and earning a rewarding 4.9 rating.

Also, during the week of Nov. 6-12, TRAC Media Services highlighted the success of APT movies in its Context newsletter: The APT classic movie series has resumed its powerful Saturday drive over the last two weeks. A combined 16 plays of John Huston’s THE MALTESE FALCON, starring Humphrey Bogart; THE GREAT ESCAPE; and THE THOMAS CROWN AFFAIR (the original production), earned ratings of 2.3, 2.0 and 1.9, respectively, and placed second, fourth and seventh among titles aired by five or more stations. The following week, APT classic movie series continued their resurgence with five more plays each of SINGIN' IN THE RAIN with Gene Kelly (the night’s top program carried by five or more stations, at 2.3) and THE MALTESE FALCON with Humphrey Bogart (above the night’s average at 1.7).
