Formed in 1990, APT Premium Service — one of APT’s three programming divisions — provides fundraising specials to public television stations. Through the creation of original programming concepts and the acquisition of existing high-quality programs, Premium Service has distributed more than 234 specials, including some of public television's most prestigious and highest-rated titles.
These include:
This collection includes digitally re-mastered songs from the legendary crooner’s classic, Emmy-winning television series, including well-known standards “Can’t Take My Eyes Off of You,” “Moon River” and “Danny Boy.”
A beloved and successful fundraising program, this concert from 1990 features “the three tenors” Jose Carreras, Placido Domingo and the late Luciano Pavarotti performing with the Orchestra del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino and the Orchestra del Teatro dell’Opera di Roma, conducted by Zubin Mehta.
Based on writer Michael Streissguth’s acclaimed book, the program weaves compelling interviews with archival photography — enhanced for broadcast by “extrapolation technique” — to evoke the spirit of that momentous day in 1968 when Johnny Cash appeared on stage at Folsom Prison.
The program blends digitally recovered footage from the celebrated crooner Bing Crosby’s network specials (1954-1977) with enlightening interviews from Leonard Maltin, Regis Philbin, Andy Williams, Michael Feinstein and more.
The concert special captures powerhouse entertainer Liza Minnelli performing her legendary hits at Las Vegas’ MGM Grand hotel, including "New York, New York," "Maybe This Time," "Teach Me Tonight" and the "Palace Medley," as well as a show-stopping, affectionate tribute to her godmother, the late Kay Thompson.
At the historic three-night christening of New York’s Citi Field in July 2009, the legendary Paul McCartney performed songs from his Beatles and Wings days to his solo classics, including: “Drive My Car,” “Got To Get You Into My Life,” “Back In The USSR,” “Band On The Run,” “Live and Let Die” and “Flaming Pie.”
Clips and interviews with the Tom and Dick Smothers, the show’s writers, and guests Joan Baez, Harry Belafonte and Pete Seeger, detail the conflicts, censorship battles and eventual cancellation of the Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour.
Take an emotional musical journey through this legendary entertainer’s life as Tony Bennett performs duets of his biggest hits with Barbra Streisand, Elton John, Diana Krall and Stevie Wonder, among others.
