Program Description:
WITNESS TO HOPE explores in depth the experiences and personalities that helped form the man the world knew as Pope John Paul II. As an underground seminarian in Nazi-occupied Poland, Karol Wojtyla practiced his faith, even at the risk of imprisonment and death. He became the youngest bishop in Poland and subsequently, the first non-Italian pope in more than 450 years. He challenged political oppression in Poland, championed human rights in Cuba, and traveled around the world. He was a student, a poet, a playwright, an actor, and a pastor.
WITNESS TO HOPE follows the pope’s spiritual journey, his struggles and his triumphs, his development as a leader, and his deepening commitment to human rights and religious freedom, through interviews with people who knew him as a young man. The story is illustrated with rare historical stills, archive film, and original location footage in Rome and Poland.
Available for Home Video/DVD worldwide, and for TV in Asia, Africa, and the Middle East.
